This is the very first edition of the Indian Premier League. In this season total of 8 teams participate. After the league match 4  Rajasthan Royals, Kings XI Punjab, Chennai Super Kings, and Delhi Daredevils(Delhi Capitals) were qualified for the Playoffs. At last, The final match was held on 1 June 2018 between RR and CSK and RR won the final in the last match. Yusuf Pathan is named the player of the match and Shane Waston becomes the player of the tournament.

IPL 2009 is the second season of the Indian Premier League. The tournament was hosted in South Africa due to the general election in India. IPL 2009 was played between 18 April and 24 May 2009. In IPL 2009, Deccan Charges won the title and RCB become the Runner-up. Adam Gilchrist of DC was awarded as the player of the series by scoring 495 Runs 18 dismissals. The most successful team in the history of IPL MI get second last position in the IPL 2009.

IPL 2010 was hosted again in India and had an estimated television audience of more than 200 million people in the country. It was also the first-ever cricket tournament that was broadcast live on YouTube. The finals four matches of the tournament were screened in 3D across the movie theater in India. This IPL season was started on 12 March 2010 and end on 25 April 2010.

In this IPL season MI comeback and held the first position at the point table and also qualified at the final of IPL 2010 but unfortunately, MI lost the final match, and CSK becomes the new winner of IPL and gets their first title. Along with MI and CSK, DC and RCB also qualify for the playoffs. Sachin Tendulkar wins the orange Cap and Pragyan Ojha win the Purple Cap of this IPL season.

IPL 2011 ran from 8 April to 28 May 2011. The first and last matches of the season were held in M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai which is the home ground of Chennai Super Kings. In this IPL Season, two more new teams Pune Warriors India and Kochi Tuskers Kerala added with other 8 teams and make a total of 10 teams in the IPL 2011.

Chennai Super Kings again won the IPL title continuously 2nd time. Chennai beat Bangalore in the final match and won their 2nd IPL title. Chris Gayle of Royal Challengers Bangalore won the award of Player of the Series by scoring 608 and taking 8 wickets. But the most wicket of the season is taken by Sri Lankan Star bowler Lasith Malinga. He takes 28 wickets in the IPL season 2011.

IPL 2012 known as DLF IPL 2012 was the fifth season by the Indian Premier League which is held by BCCI. Kolkata Knight Riders were the winning team by beating defending champion Chennai Super Kings by five wickets in the final match. The number of teams in this season went from ten to nine with the termination of Kochi Tuskers Kerala.

IPL 2013 was held again with the 9 teams from 3 April to 26 May 2013. There is a total of 76 matches played in this IPL season. Mumbai India (MI) won the title of IPL 2013 by beating two team IPL winners till the year 2013, Chennai Super Kings It is also the first IPL title of MI.

Shane Waston (RR) won the award of player of the series. Most runs make by Michael Hussey (CSK) and most wicket taken by Dwayne Bravo (CSK). CSK, MI, RR, and SRH were qualified in the playoffs of the IPL season 2013.

KXIP is the top at points table but KKR won the IPL 2014 by beating KXIP in the final match with 3 wickets. The tournament was held with 8 teams, 1 less than the previous season by withdrawing Pune Warriors India.

IPL 2014 was held in two countries India and UAE. Glenn Maxwell of KXIP was the player of the series. Robin Uthappa was Orange Cap holder by scoring 660 runs and Mohit Sharma of CSK was Purple Cap holder.

IPL 2015 the eighth season of the Indian Premier League was started on 8 April 2015 and the final match of the tournament was held on 24 May 2015 and Mumbai Indians defeated Chennai Super Kings by 41 runs at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Captain of Mumbai Indians Rohit Sharma was awarded the Man of the Match in the final for his match-winning knock of 50 runs in 26 balls. The 9th edition of IPL began on 9 April 2016 and the final of this season was held on 29 May 2016. In this IPL, two champion teams Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royal were suspended over a Spot-fixing and betting Scandal. Then two new teams were allowed to IPL for 2 years in place of CSK and RR. The two new teams are Gujarat Lions and Rising Pune Supergiants. 

Gujarat Lions (GL) finish the league stage at the top of the tournament. Later they lose both the chances to qualify in the final match. Along with GL, RCB, SRH, and KKR are the top 4 teams of this IPL. In the Final Match, Sunrisers Hyderabad beat the Royal Challengers Bangalore by 8 runs and win their first IPL title. Virat Kohli (RCB) make the highest runs in IPL 2016 and won the Player of the Series award. He makes 973 runs with 4 Hundred in a single IPL season which was the highest run make by any player in a single IPL season.

IPL 2017 started on 5 April 2017 and end on 21 May 2017. The tournament is played with the same previous year’s 8 teams. Hyderabad hosts the opening match of this IPL. In the final match, Mumbai Indians beat Rising Pune Supergiant by 1 Run only. Mumbai wins their 3rd IPL title and becomes the first IPL team to reach this milestone.

Sunrisers skipper David Warner won the Orange Cap by scoring 641 runs in the tournament. Ben Stokes of Rising Supergiants become the most valuable player while Basil Thampi of Gujarat Lions was awarded as Emerging Player of the Tournament.

The 2018 season of the Indian Premier League was the eleventh season of this most popular cricket tournament. The season of the Indian Premier League was held between 7 April 2018 to 27 May 2018. Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals back to IPL this season after completing 2 years of suspension.

SRH, CSK, KKR, and RR are the top four teams in the Points Table of IPL 2018. Chennai Super Kings beat Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final match by 8 wickets and won the IPL title 3rd time. Due to general election IPL 2019 was supposed to be organise in other country but at the end it was held in the India. IPL 2019 was started bit earlier due to general election in India. The tournament was started at 23 March 2019 and end at 12 May 2019. India World Cup match also postponed from 2 June to 5 June due to BCCI were directed to maintain a mandatory 15 days gap between conclusion of IPL and International Matches.

The defending champion Chennai Super Kings was beaten by Mumbai Indians with 1 Runs in the final Match. By winning IPL 2019 title Mumbai Indians again become the most successful team in the history of IPL. David Warner won the Orange Cap for the leading run-scorer of the tournament with 692 Runs.

The 13 edition of IPL was delayed due to the out break of Covid-19 across all over the world. Later schedule for IPL 13 was fixed from 19 September to 10 November 2019 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). 

Defending Champion Mumbai Indian retained their title by winning the final match of IPL 13 against Delhi Capitals by 5 wickets. All the match of the tournament was played without an audience in the Stadium which is first time in the history of IPL.
