It was for the first time when Arjun Tendulkar was picked for the Mumbai’s senior squad three years after he was picked for the Indian U-19 team against Sri-Lanka. Though an all-rounder he was brought to the spotlight by his left arm fast bowling which also gave him a chance to perform in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Games.
However it auspiciously came against his will as he didn’t get a chance to perform his batting half being at number eleven in the squad.
With the ball he went on to dismiss the opener Chaitanya Bishnoi but returned an expensive figure of getting a wicket conceding thirty-four runs in three overs.
In the longer vision Mumbai lost the third game in a row being ruled out of the quarter -final birth effectively .

Arjun Tendulkar IPL Team 2021
Adding one more chapter to the IPL auction drama Arjun Tendulkar’s name was the last one to pop out in the accelerated part of the auction and Mumbai Indian’s owned by the Ambani’s was the only team providing a bid for the great last name.
Arjun Tendulkar was then bought by the Mumbai Indians at a base price of Twenty-lakh rupees to perform in the team in which his legendry father once played .
Head coach Mahela Jayawardene , director of cricket association Zaheer Khan and owner Akash Ambani argued that the selection was purely on the merit and talent basis.
They also stated that it is nothing more than an opportunity that a young cricketer needs to prove himself and his worth in his initial playing career by providing him a chance to perform against the world’s best T20 teams and in the world’s best T20 league.
“We’ve looked at it purely on a skill basis, I mean, there is going to be a big tag on his head because of Sachin. But, luckily, he’s a bowler, not a batsman. So I think Sachin will be very proud if he could bowl like Arjun.”
“I think it’s going to be a learning process for Arjun. He just started playing for Mumbai, and now the franchise. He will learn the ropes; he will evolve. He’s still young. A very focused young man. We have to give him time and hopefully not put a lot of pressure on him either. Just let him evolve and work his way up, and that’s what we’re there to help him to do.” said Mahela Jayawardene.

Arjun Tendulkar Nets and Training
A tall lanky lad has been given the best of the resources and guidance to learn the fast bowling and in the initial phase of his his carrier he has made the full use of this opportunity by developing a curved run-up and a genuine out swinger’s action . He is capable of getting the ball to swing late and a significant pace of his age.
He is also a capable low middle order batsman who can use his long hands but this is a secondary priority after fast bowling. His bowling action has been closely monitored and been worked on by Atul Gaikwad, coach and the expert in the biometrics and aerodynamics of the fast bowling.
After been falling into a couple of stress fractures he had to tweak his bowling action and also suffered with his bowling action during the year of 2016-17 that had to be a crucial and one of the deciding periods in the career of his fast bowling .
Some sources also report that these injuries also costed him a couple of days rehearsing his batting stance with a complete week or two getting pored into his batting tricks directly.
Only after some time that his action and bowling speed were moderate had helped him feel settled in the nets.
Gaikwad’s knowledge has been put into a great use in the National Cricket Academy that has also been to a good use for Arjun’s slow but steadily progressing career . Other than Gaikwad Arjun has also been training with his father’s teammate Subroto Banerjee who has been credited by the Indian test bowler Umesh Yadav and Vidarbha .
The teenager has regularly bowled in the Indian nets to the Indian team that has given him loads of exposure against the best in the country. he has also been in the news for bowling to the Indian Women’s Cricket Team in the preparation for the the world cup final at the Lords in 2016.
More recently, he made news for the right reasons when he gave one of England’s best batsmen, Jonny Bairstow, an injury scare as a Yorker from Arjun speared into his toe ahead of the South Africa Tests.
As Rahul Dravid is away with the India A team in England, Arjun has worked with WV Raman, who is India’s interim coach for the tour of Sri Lanka. Arjun attended an NCA residential camp in Dharamsala and impressed with his pace and accuracy during the academy games in Himachal Pradesh.
His performances in Mumbai’s age-group cricket have also made him shoot through the ranks as he continues to improve his pace and skillset every day.

In his last competitive tournament for assessment, Arjun claimed a staggering 19 wickets in just 5 games for Mumbai Under-19 in the 2017-18 Cooch Behar Trophy to further strengthen his resume.
In January 2017, he represented a CCI XI at the Bradman Oval in Adelaide, where he made a swift 48 in his first outing as an opening batsman; not to mention his four scalps with the ball.
In July 2017, he was also included in the MCC squad to play against Namibia Under-19 in England and impressed as MCC’s spearhead, picking up four wickets to decimate the opposition.
Nevertheless, that’s a part and parcel of a legacy. If he does eventually make it into the Indian national team, the pressure on him is likely to be more than that on his legendary father: the expectations of a billion Indians, plus the legacy of one Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar.

“The selection for Mumbai’s U-16 team happened before Pranav’s record. They had also played a few matches. So since Pranav didn’t feature for the Mumbai U-16 team, he cannot be a part of the West zone side, that’s the procedure,” Prashant told .
“Arjun and Pranav are good friends, they speak regularly with each other,” he added, refuting claims of any preference given to the former. “Pranav still has time. Maybe another two years to even make it to the U-19 team. We don’t need to pressurise him. Just let him enjoy the game,” Sheikh was quoted.
